‘Failure’ by Mathew Lee Cothran (South Carolina)
While simultaneously working on a new Elvis Depressedly album, Mathew Lee Cothran (who is the only other person I know who spells his name the same way as my brother, with one T) released a demo for his brand new solo project. Although he has another solo effort, Coma Cinema, he chose to differentiate what he is working on now so he could feel free to experiment without alienating any of his fans. ‘Failure,’ in its demo state, is a simply produced singer-songwriter track with bleak vocals that aren’t tempered by the humor that is characteristic of his work. @emilywherever
